The Diaper Heritage Association has put together a comprehensive family tree with over 5000 entries and 400 photographs this is available in both book form and disk format, you can also order copies of Southampton in Song which has recordings of historic folk songs such as ‘Poll of Itchen Ferry’ and the free trail leaflet.

The museum contains a permanent display of the town’s maritime history and many of the artefacts have connections with the Diapers. Use this trail to take you around the museum, it will finish at the ‘Fisherman, Ferryman, Sailor, Spy – The Diapers of Itchen Ferry’ exhibit.

Genealogy

 

Currently the Diaper Family Tree has some 5000 entries and around 400 images of family members going back to the sixteenth century. We have managed to gather so much information because individual researchers have shared their research and provided copies of documents. Where ever possible entries have been checked against official documentation such as birth, marriage and death certificates, where this has not been possible we have tried other methods of corroboration however if we have made any errors that you can correct we would be pleased to have your help.

 

There are still a few branches of the tree which have not been ‘joined’ to the main tree, so if you have any additional information please contact the Diaper Heritage Association via contacts given in the newsletters, or via the forum.
